Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this statement of Sayyidah Umm Jamil bint al-Mujallil (may Allah be pleased with her), that is, his mother. She says: I brought you from the land of Abyssinia, and when I was one or two nights' journey from Madinah, I cooked a pot of food for you. The firewood ran out and I went out in search of firewood. You came to the pot and tipped it over onto your arms. I brought you to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, this is Muhammad bin Hatib. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put some of his saliva in your mouth, wiped his hand over your head and prayed for you, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to blow over your hand, reciting: "O Lord of mankind, remove the affliction; grant healing, You are the Healer; there is no healing except Your healing; grant a healing that leaves no illness behind." She says: I had not yet got up with you from the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) before your hand was healed.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, except that he (al-Tabarani) reported these words: "O Messenger of Allah, this is Muhammad bin Hatib; he is the first child to be named after you." The chain of this report contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Uthman al-Hatibi, whom Abu Hatim declared da'if (weak).
