Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8454

Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I went near a cooking pot that was boiling and put my hand into it, and the hand was burned. The narrator is unsure whether the words are: and it swelled. My mother took me to a man who was in al-Batha'. He recited something and blew. When the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came, I asked my mother: Who was that man? She said: He was the Messenger of Allah.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar, except that he reported these words: "O Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the hand of (my son) Muhammad has been burned."
