Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and he too set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); they were heading towards Makkah. When they reached the valley of al-Kharrar at al-Juhfah, Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) began to take a bath. He was a man of fair complexion, with a handsome body and skin. Amir bin Rabi'ah, who belonged to Banu Adi bin Ka'b, saw him bathing and said: I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, not even the skin of a secluded maiden. Thereupon Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill. He was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was said: O Messenger of Allah, will you do something for Sahl? By Allah, he neither raises his head nor regains consciousness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you suspect anyone with regard to him?" The people said: Amir bin Rabi'ah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Amir bin Rabi'ah, expressed his anger with him, and said: "On what basis would one of you kill his brother? When you saw something that pleased you, why did you not invoke blessing?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wash yourself!" So he washed his face, both his arms, both his elbows, both his knees, the edges of his feet and the inner part of his waist-wrapper in a bowl. Then that water was poured over that man; it was poured over his head and his back, and then the bowl was put behind him, and that was done to him. Then Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) set off with the people as though no affliction had ever befallen him.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and he added these words: "And he drank from that water."
