بَابُ سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ
The one who serves people drinks last

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ : كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَلَمْ نَجِدِ الْمَاءَ ، ثُمَّ هَجَمْنَا عَلَى الْمَاءِ بَعْدُ . قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ يَسْقُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَكُلَّمَا أَتَوْهُ بِالشَّرَابِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ " [ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ] حَتَّى شَرِبُوا كُلُّهُمْ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ مِنْهُ : " سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ " فَقَطْ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى أَبُو دَاوُدَ مِنْهُ : " سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ " فَقَطْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were on a journey and could not find water. After some time we came upon water, and the people began offering water to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever the people brought the drink to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who gives the people drink (drinks himself) last." He said this three times, until all of them had drunk the water. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud recorded only this part of it: "The one who gives the people drink is the last of them (to drink himself)."
