وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : أُتِيَ بِجُبْنَةٍ فَجَعَلَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَضْرِبُونَهَا بِالْعِصِيِّ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَقَالَ : فِي غَزْوَةِ الطَّائِفِ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، وَقَدْ ضَعَّفَهُ الْجُمْهُورُ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَقَالَ : فِي غَزْوَةِ الطَّائِفِ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، وَقَدْ ضَعَّفَهُ الْجُمْهُورُ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
In one narration the wording is: "Cheese was brought, and his Companions began striking it (i.e., breaking it) with sticks."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani recorded it. He (al-Tabarani) said: "This happened at the battle of Ta'if." Its chain contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, whom the majority declared da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
