Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8021

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that dates be searched through (or picked over) and then eaten.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Yahya al-Qattan declared da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
