عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَا تَقْطَعُوا الْخُبْزَ بِالسِّكِّينِ كَمَا تَقْطَعُهُ الْأَعَاجِمُ ، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ اللَّحْمَ فَلَا يَقْطَعْهُ بِالسِّكِّينِ ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَأْخُذْهُ بِيَدِهِ ، فَلْيَنْهَشْهُ بِفِيهِ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ عَبَّادُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Do not cut bread with a knife the way the non-Arabs cut it. And when any of you eats meat, he should not cut it with a knife; rather, he should take it in his hand and then tear it with his mouth, for that is more pleasant and more wholesome."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abbad bin Kathir al-Thaqafi, and he is da'if (weak).
