Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 7784

Alqamah narrates: A man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "I have given my wife ninety-nine divorces. I asked about this and was told that she has become separated from me." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "People like to bring about separation between you and her." The man said: "May Allah Almighty have mercy on you, so what do you say?" The man thought that Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) would perhaps grant him a concession, but Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "On the basis of three divorces that woman has become separated from you, and all the rest will be counted as transgression."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
