وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا تُنْكَحُ النِّسَاءُ إِلَّا مِنَ الْأَكْفَاءِ ، وَلَا يُزَوَّجُهُنَّ إِلَّا الْأَوْلِيَاءُ ، وَلَا مَهْرَ دُونَ عَشَرَةِ دَرَاهِمَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Women are to be married only to their equals (kuf'), only their guardians are to give them in marriage, and there is no dowry (mahr) of less than ten dirhams."
