Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 7231

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : إِنَّ خَادِمِي يُسِيءُ وَيَظْلِمُ أَفَأَضْرِبُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " تَعْفُو عَنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ بِاخْتِصَارٍ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My servant behaves badly and does wrong; shall I beat him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Pardon him seventy times every day. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it in abridged form.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
