A freed slave of Rafi' bin Thabit narrates: A man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a Berber slave girl for two hundred dinars and sent her to Sayyiduna Abu Muhammad (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Badr; he gave that Berber slave girl to him as a gift. When the slave girl came to him, he said: She is one of those Magians about whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, and the polytheists (were also forbidden). The narrator says: I
narrated this report to a man, and he told me that Yahya bin Sa'id had told him that an uncle of his died in the Maghrib (that is, Morocco), and that he was a "Badri" (a veteran of Badr).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator who is not named, and Ibn Lahi'ah.
