Book of Inheritance
بَابُ مَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِأَهْلِهِ .
Whoever leaves wealth, it goes to his family

عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِأَهْلِهِ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ دُنْيَا فَعَلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ أَعْيَنُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ ، وَلَمْ يُجَرِّحْهُ ، وَلَمْ يُوَثِّقْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ أَعْيَنُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ ، وَلَمْ يُجَرِّحْهُ ، وَلَمْ يُوَثِّقْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leaves behind wealth, it will go to his family, and whoever leaves behind a debt, its responsibility will be upon Allah and His Messenger."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, A'yan al-Basri, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned without criticising him or declaring him trustworthy. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
