Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A young man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away and left some jewellery. Shall I give it in charity on her behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Did your mother instruct you to do that? He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then keep your mother's jewellery with you.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
