Book of Oaths and Vows
بَابُ لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ إِنَّمَا النَّذْرُ مَا ابْتُغِيَ بِهِ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ .
There is no vow in disobedience; a vow is only that by which the Face of Allah is sought

قَالَ جَابِرٌ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قِيلَ : إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ جَابِرٍ .
وَرَوَاهُ بِرِجَالِ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ عَلَى جَابِرٍ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قِيلَ : إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ جَابِرٍ .
وَرَوَاهُ بِرِجَالِ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ عَلَى جَابِرٍ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A vow concerning disobedience to Allah Almighty is not to be fulfilled."
Imam Ahmad recorded it; it has been said about Sulayman bin Musa that he did not hear from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
He also recorded it with the narrators of the Sahih, but it is mawquf (stopping at the Companion) on Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
