وَعَنْ عُثْمَانَ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَفَّانَ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " يَكْفِيكُمْ مِنَ الْحَيَّةِ ضَرْبَةُ سَوْطٍ أَصَبْتُمُوهَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْتُمُوهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ سُلَيْمَانُ الشَّاذَكُونِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Against a snake, a single blow of a stick is sufficient for you, whether it strikes it or misses it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Sulayman al-Shadhakuni, and he is da'if (weak).
