Sayyiduna Jabir al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the dogs of Madinah be killed. Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: My house is far away, and I have a dog. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him a concession for a few days, then he ordered that his dog be killed too. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the "Sahih", but it does not mention the concession.
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
