Zirr bin Hubaysh narrates: The people of Madinah went out for an occasion of theirs, and I saw a man who was bald at the front and worked equally with both hands; he stood a cubit taller than the people. He was wearing a lower garment and had a cloak over him, and he was saying: "O people, set out, and do not say anything improper. Let none of you strike a rabbit with a stick or a stone and then eat it; rather, slaughter with small or large spears." I asked: "Who is this?" The people said: "This is Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
