Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that animals be tied up (and used for target practice), and (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also forbade) eating their meat when they have been tied up (and killed by target practice).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Khallad bin Yazid. He named him thus, but the correct name is Khallad bin Bazi', as has already passed in the preceding hadith. No one has criticised him.
