Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6

Sayyiduna Suhayl bin al-Bayda' narrated: Once we were travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was riding behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) on the mount. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Suhayl bin al-Bayda'!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) called him in a loud voice twice or perhaps three times, and each time Sayyiduna Suhayl (may Allah be pleased with him) answered him. When the people heard the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they realised that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted the people's attention. So those who were ahead stopped and those who were behind came and joined, until, when they had gathered, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, Allah Almighty will make him forbidden to Hell and will make Paradise obligatory for him."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. It revolves around a narrator named Sa'id bin al-Salt. Ibn Abi Hatim said: This narration has also been reported from Sayyiduna Suhayl bin al-Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him) as a mursal narration, and from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) as a muttasil (connected) narration.
