Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to sacrifice two rams on his behalf (every year), so I love to do so. Al-Muharibi transmitted these words in his narration: (He had ordered) that I sacrifice two rams on his behalf, one on behalf of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other on his own behalf. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was spoken to about this, and he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me, so I will never abandon it. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded this narration from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) with the words: "He instructed me to sacrifice on his behalf." He did not mention one ram or two rams in it.
Abdullah bin Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu al-Hasna', who is not known; no one other than Sharik has narrated from him.
