Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Prices (of goods) rose in Madinah and hardship set in. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be patient and receive glad tidings. I have prayed for blessing in your mudd and your sa'. Eat, and do not eat separately; then the food of one will suffice for two, the food of two will suffice for four, and the food of four will suffice for five or six. Blessing lies in eating together. Whoever is patient with its hardship and severity, I will be an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection (the narrator is in doubt; perhaps the words are:) a witness. Whoever leaves it out of aversion to (the virtue) found here, Allah Almighty will give (Madinah) someone better than him. And whoever intends evil towards it, Allah Almighty will dissolve him (in the fire of Hell) just as salt dissolves in water." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
