Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5792

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every prophet has a sanctuary (haram), and my sanctuary is Madinah. O Allah! I declare it a sanctuary by Your sanctity, so do not let any innovator be given shelter in it. Its grass shall not be cut, its thorns shall not be broken off, and its lost property shall not be picked up, except that the ruling is different for one who will announce it."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
