Sayyiduna Dhu Mikhbar (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah Almighty looked down upon (the land of) Madinah when it was an open plain; this was before there was any house of mud or of hair there. Allah Almighty said: 'O people of Yathrib, I lay three conditions upon you, and I will bring you every kind of fruit: you shall not disobey, you shall not go to excess, and you shall not be arrogant. If you do any of these, I will leave you like a camel which no one is prevented from eating.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Sa'id bin Sinan, who is al-Shami (the Syrian), and he is da'if (weak).
