Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the Farewell Pilgrimage, in the days of al-Adha, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: "Is this not the sacred day?" The people said: "Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then the sanctity between you will remain until the Day of Resurrection just as this day is sacred. I will tell you who a Muslim is: the one from whose tongue and hand (other) Muslims are safe. I will tell you who a believer is: the one from whom people are safe concerning their wealth and their lives. And I will tell you who an emigrant (muhajir) is: the one who abandons evil deeds. A believer is inviolable to another believer just as this day is sacred: his flesh (that is, his honour) is inviolable to him, that he should eat it by backbiting him in his absence; his honour is inviolable to him, that he should tear it apart; his face is inviolable to him, that he should slap it; his blood is inviolable, that he should shed it; his wealth is inviolable to him, that he should wrong him in it; and harming him is forbidden to him, that he should push him aside."
