Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Those in charge of providing water (to the pilgrims) and those in charge of the custodianship (of the Ka'bah) were given a concession to spend the nights of Mina in Makkah. The narrator says: That is, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and the family of Shaybah were given this permission.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Ibn Majah recorded this narration, but he did not narrate the words "the family of Shaybah".
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but a mudallis.
