عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَصَّرَ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ بِمِشْقَصٍ .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ مُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ : أَنَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي قَصَّرَ عَنْهُ . وَهَذَا أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَابْنُهُ ، وَإِسْنَادُ ابْنِهِ رِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ مُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ : أَنَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي قَصَّرَ عَنْهُ . وَهَذَا أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَابْنُهُ ، وَإِسْنَادُ ابْنِهِ رِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) have his hair shortened with a broad arrowhead. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) is mentioned in the Sahih, in which it is stated that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the one who shortened his hair, and this is closer to being correct; and Allah knows best.
