In a narration from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), the words are: Sayyiduna Jibril took the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) along with him to show him the rites (manasik). He brought him to Jamrat al-Aqabah, and Iblis was there. Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) told him, so he struck him with seven pebbles, and he sank into the ground. Then he came to the middle Jamrah, and Iblis was there as well. Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) told him, so he struck him with seven pebbles, and he sank into the ground. Then he came to the third Jamrah and did the same there. Then he came to Muzdalifah, and then he recited the talbiyah from Arafat. Imam al-Tabarani recorded all of these narrations in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Their chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who had become mukhtalit (his memory deteriorated).
