Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing tawaf of the House when the strap of his sandal broke. A man took the strap out of his own sandal and stepped forward to tie it onto the sandal of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pulled it away and said: "This is preferential treatment, and I do not like preferential treatment."
Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, the latter in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Asim bin Ubaydullah, who is da'if (weak).
