Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He tore his shirt open from the collar and took it off from the side of his feet. The people were looking at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: "I had given an order regarding my sacrificial animal, the one I have sent, that it be garlanded today and marked at such-and-such a place. I had put on a shirt and forgot, so I could not take my shirt off over my head." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sent a sacrificial camel while he himself remained at home.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form. The narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
