Sayyiduna Abu Dawud al-Mazini (may Allah be pleased with him), who had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Badr, narrates: We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque of Dhu al-Hulayfah and prayed four rak'ahs in it. Then he recited the talbiyah in the mosque, and the people who were in the mosque heard him, so they said: "He began the talbiyah from the mosque." Then, when he mounted his riding camel, he recited the talbiyah, and the people who were near the mosque said: "He recited the talbiyah when his mount rose up with him." Then, when he came up onto the open plain (al-Bayda'), he recited the talbiyah, and the people who were there heard him and said that he began the talbiyah from the plain. All of them spoke the truth.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Ishaq bin Sa'id bin Jubayr; al-Dhahabi says: he is majhul (unknown). The chain of this report also contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
