Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the year of the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his wives: "This is done; now you must stay at home." The narrator says: Thereafter all of the women would go for Hajj, except Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Sawdah bint Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with her), who did not go. The two of them used to say: "By Allah! We heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so after this no mount of ours will move." Ishaq transmitted these words in his narration: The two ladies used to say: "After this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), 'Then after this you must stay in your homes', no mount of ours will move now."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, but he (Abu Ya'la) transmitted these words: All of the wives would go for Hajj, except Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her), who did not go. Al-Bazzar also
recorded it, transmitting these words: "This is the Hajj, and after it you are to stay at home." Its chain contains Salih, the mawla (freed slave) of al-Taw'amah. Ibn Abi Dhi'b
narrated it from him, and Ibn Abi Dhi'b heard from him before his memory became confused; and this hadith is sahih (authentic).
