Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5116

Majza'ah bin Zahir narrates this statement of his father: On the day of Ashura I heard the caller of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever is fasting today should complete his fast, and whoever is not fasting should complete the remaining (part of the day), (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) should fast."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and he (al-Tabarani) recorded these words: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered." The narrators of al-Bazzar are thiqat (trustworthy).
