وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَائِمًا يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " مَنْ أَصْبَحَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُتِمَّ صَوْمَهُ ، وَمَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ غَدَاءِ أَهْلِهِ فَلْيُتِمَّ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ أَيْضًا حَبِيبٌ وَلَمْ يَرْوِ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ ابْنِهِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast on the day of Ashura, and he used to say to his Companions: "Whoever has begun the morning fasting should complete his fast, and whoever has eaten breakfast at home should complete it (the fast) for the rest of the day."
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain also contains the narrator named Habib, from whom no one but his son has narrated.
