Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4910

Bishr bin Harb narrated: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): What do you say about fasting during travel? He said: If I narrate a hadith to you, will you adopt it? I replied: Yes. So he said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left this city (of Madinah), he would shorten the prayer and would not fast until he returned.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration. There is criticism about the narrator named Bishr, and he has also been declared thiqah (trustworthy).
