بَابٌ فِيمَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ رَمَضَانُ وَعَلَيْهِ رَمَضَانُ آخَرُ .
One who reaches Ramadan while owing fasts from another Ramadan

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ رَمَضَانُ وَعَلَيْهِ رَمَضَانُ آخَرُ لَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَأَحْمَدُ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ هَذَا ، وَيَأْتِي فِي بَابِهِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَأَحْمَدُ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ هَذَا ، وَيَأْتِي فِي بَابِهِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is reached by Ramadan while (the fasts of) another Ramadan are still due from him, (the fasts of the present Ramadan) will not be accepted from him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Ahmad recorded it as a longer report than this; it will come later in another chapter, if Allah wills. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), though he has been criticised. The rest of the narrators of its chain are the narrators of the Sahih.
