Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), or perhaps al-Hasan al-Basri, reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his past and future sins are forgiven." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This report is mentioned in the Sahih as a hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), except that it does not contain the words: "and what comes later."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy, except that the narrator Hammad was in doubt whether this report is mawsul (connected) or mursal (with a missing link).
