وَعَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ لِفُلَانٍ فِي حَائِطِي نَخْلَةً فَمُرْهُ فَلْيَبِعْهَا ، أَوْ لِيَهَبْهَا لِي . فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " افْعَلْ وَلَكَ بِهَا نَخْلَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " . فَأَبَاهُ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " هَذَا أَبْخَلُ النَّاسِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abu Salih reports the following account from one of the Companions: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! So-and-so has a date palm in my garden; order him to sell it or to give it to me as a gift." The man came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do so, and in exchange you will get a date palm in Paradise." He did not agree, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the greatest miser of all."
