وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَلَى بِلَالٍ وَعِنْدَهُ صُبْرَةٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا يَا بِلَالُ ؟ " قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ادَّخَرْتُهُ لَكَ وَلِضِيفَانِكَ . فَقَالَ : " أَمَا تَخْشَى أَنْ يَفُورَ لَهُ بُخَارٌ فِي جَهَنَّمَ ؟ أَنْفِقْ بِلَالُ ، وَلَا تَخْشَ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا " .
رَوَاهُ كُلَّهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ وَثَّقَهُ شُعْبَةُ ، وَالثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had a heap of dates with him. He said: "O Bilal, what is this for?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have stored it away for you and for your guests." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not fear that vapour will rise over it in Hell? O Bilal, spend, and do not fear any shortage from the Owner of the Throne."
Al-Tabarani recorded all of these reports in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is criticism of him. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
