Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to fight the people until they say that there is no god but Allah. When they say La ilaha illallah (there is no god but Allah), they will have protected their lives and their wealth from me, except for what is due by its right, and their reckoning will rest with Allah Almighty."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator, Mus'ab bin Thabit; Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while most hadith scholars have declared him da'if (weak).
