Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4628

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates: A lizard (dabb) was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat it. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall we not feed it to the poor? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not feed them what you yourselves do not eat.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
