Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4524

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Begging will be a scar on the face of the one who begs on the Day of Resurrection; so whoever wishes may keep the scar on his face. The lightest begging is begging from a relative, when a man asks him for something concerning his need. The best begging is that (when a man asks another, the giver, after giving to him,) remains well-off. And begin spending on those under your care."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
