عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَدَ تَمْرَةً تَحْتَ جَنْبِهِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَأَكَلَهَا ، فَلَمْ يَنَمْ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ نِسَائِهِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرِقْتَ الْبَارِحَةَ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ [ تَحْتَ جَنْبِي ] تَمْرَةً فَأَكَلْتُهَا ، وَكَانَ عِنْدَنَا تَمْرٌ مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: At night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found a date under his side and ate it; after that he could not sleep the whole night. His respected wife said: "O Messenger of Allah! Did you stay awake last night?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I found a date under my side and ate it. We also had dates of charity with us, and I feared that it might have been one of them."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
