Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), while mentioning (the affair of) Khaybar, narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ibn Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Jews, and he would estimate the yield of their date palms; this was done when the dates became fit to eat, before (any of them) were eaten. Then they would give the Jews the choice: if they wished, they could take the produce according to that estimate, or else hand over that much produce to them.
