وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مِنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ حَدِيثًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ ، وَكُنْتُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لُزُومًا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ عُمَرُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا تَلِفَ مَالٌ فِي بَرٍّ ، وَلَا بَحْرٍ ، إِلَّا بِحَبْسِ الزَّكَاةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard a hadith from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which I had not heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself, even though I was mostly in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No wealth is lost on land or at sea except because of withholding zakah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Umar bin Harun, who is da'if (weak).
