Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4295

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a grave and said: "Bring me two palm branches." He placed one of them at its head and the other at its feet. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, will this benefit him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as these two remain moist, some of this man's punishment will continue to be lightened."
Ahmad recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
