A report from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) is also recorded in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(The angel) comes to a man in his grave. He tries to come from the side of his head, and the recitation of the Qur'an pushes him away. When he tries to come from the front, charity pushes him back. When he tries to come from the side of his feet, his walking to the mosque pushes him back, and patience becomes a barrier. It says: 'If I were to see a khalil (close friend), I would be his companion.'" Al-Bazzar recorded part of this report.
