وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : تُوُفِّيَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَرَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُهْتَمًّا شَدِيدَ الْحُزْنِ ، فَجَعَلْنَا لَا نُكَلِّمُهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى الْقَبْرِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ لَمْ يَفْرَغْ مِنْ لَحْدِهِ ، فَقَعَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَعَدْنَا حَوْلَهُ ، فَحَدَّثَ نَفْسَهُ هُنَيْهَةً ، وَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، ثُمَّ فَرَغَ مِنَ الْقَبْرِ ، فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَزْدَادُ حُزْنُهُ ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ فَرَغَ فَخَرَجَ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ وَتَبَسَّمَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَأَيْنَاكَ مُهْتَمًّا حَزِينًا فَلَمْ نَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ نُكَلِّمَكَ ، ثُمَّ رَأَيْنَاكَ سُرِّيَ عَنْكَ فَلِمَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " كُنْتُ أَذْكُرُ ضِيقَ الْقَبْرِ ، وَغَمَّهُ وَضَعْفَ زَيْنَبَ ، فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يَشُقُّ عَلَيَّ ، فَدَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُخَفِّفَ عَنْهَا فَفَعَلَ ، وَلَقَدْ ضَغَطَهَا ضَغْطَةً سَمِعَهَا مَنْ بَيْنِ الْخَافِقَيْنِ إِلَّا الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away. We went out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and saw that he was extremely grieved, so we did not speak to him until he reached the grave, and the lahd had not yet been prepared there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down and we sat around him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained lost in thought for a while, then he began looking towards the sky. When the grave was ready, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went down into it, and I saw that his grief had increased. Then, when he had finished and came out of it, I saw that his distress had gone and he was smiling. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, at first we saw you troubled and grieved and we could not speak to you; then we saw that this state had left you. What is the reason for this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was thinking of the narrowness of the grave, its distress and the weakness of Zaynab, and that weighed heavily on me. So I prayed to Allah Almighty to lighten it for Zaynab, and Allah Almighty did so. Yet the grave squeezed her once, and its sound was heard by everything between the earth and the sky except the jinn and mankind."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is da'if (weak).
