Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: On the day Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was buried, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting by his grave. He said: "If anyone were to be saved from the trial of the grave (the narrator is unsure whether the words were:) from the questioning of the grave, Sa'd bin Mu'adh would have been saved. He was squeezed first and then released."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
