Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a man died, and no shroud could be found for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was approached about this, and he said: "Look inside the inner fold of his lower garment." (When this was done,) one or two dinars were found there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are two things that will brand him. Offer the funeral prayer for your companion yourselves." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Paying them is my responsibility." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for that man.
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). Further on, in the chapter on asceticism (zuhd), hadiths of this kind will come, if Allah wills.
