وَعَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ كَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ ، احْتَاجَ إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ ، وَأَنْتَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْ عَذَابِهِ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ مُحْسِنًا فَزِدْ فِي إِحْسَانَهُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسِيئًا فَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ " ، ثُمَّ يَدْعُو مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ .

Sayyiduna Yazid bin Rukanah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer, he would say four takbirs and make this supplication: "O Allah, this is Your servant and the son of Your maidservant. He is in need of Your mercy, and You have no need to punish him. If he was a doer of good, increase his good; and if he was a doer of evil, pass over his faults." Then he would make whatever supplication Allah willed.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Ya'qub bin Humayd, who has been criticised.
